Lift-up bed frame material comparison: Durability and long-term stability
Most buyers hand over the deposit without touching the frame. They trust the brochure. That is a mistake. The mechanism lives in the frame, not the catalogue. You need to see the gas struts before you sign. It happens often enough. The salesperson smiles because they do not show the wear points. You know how it is.
Walk around the unit near Aljunied MRT station. Check the lift clearance. If the bed frame is a Queen size, it needs 152 by 190cm. But the lift door is often 90cm wide. You cannot get the frame in if it is too big. Many HDB lifts have tight corners. Measure the corridor too, got clearance or not? That is the question. If it does not fit, cannot buy it hor.
Confirm the locking pins secure properly under load. The salesperson might not pull hard enough, so you need to feel the resistance. Safety standards matter more than the fabric colour. If the pins slip, it is a no-go. They push the button once, but you push ten times. The gas struts hold the weight. If they hiss, walk away.
Only commit to furniture meeting your safety standards first. A pretty bed is useless if it falls. There is one exception where a plain frame works better. When the ceiling is low, the lift-up mechanism hits the beam. Then you need a simple platform. Don't force it.
